When undergoing reconstructive surgery of the foot or ankle it is important to remember that you will need to walk on the corrected foot/ankle for the rest of your life. So if surgery is not done right, it can cause a lifetime of issues. That is why it is critical for restoring your quality of life, to have procedures chosen and performed appropriately and expertly. Being the only Board Certified Foot and Ankle Surgeon in the area, I am uniquely able to provide that expertise and execute these procedures to ensure the outcomes you desire
Choosing the proper procedures requires accurate diagnosis and full understanding of your pathology. I have utilized my extensive training at Yale New Haven Hospital along with additional training from completing a Sports Medicine Fellowship and working in an orthopedic group in WI, to ensure accurate understanding of all the factors causing your pain. As a result, I have developed and fine-tuned procedures to address these issues.
Many of my surgeries are done with minimal incisions and through a camera, making recovery easier. Also the procedures and techniques I use allow many times for immediate protected weight bearing after surgery, making getting around much safer and easier. With advances in techniques and procedures, a surprising number of patients can be walking on their operative foot right after surgery, making the post operative period much more manageable.
Everyone hopes it never happens, but anyone who has had unsuccessful surgery knows how frustrating and at times disabling it can be. I welcome anyone who is suffering from a bad outcome or failed surgery to make an appointment for a second opinion. I have been able to revise and correct countless patients who thought they would have to live with the pain from a failed surgery the rest of their lives.
